Representative Cases

The following are representative cases in which Attorney King successfully provided his services to various clients.

  • Mr. King is currently assisting a corporation engaged in the nationwide distribution of health care products in handling its various legal needs.
  • Mr. King assisted house counsel for a local bio-tech company in the defense of a complex patent case with a billion dollar damage claim. He was involved in both directing the litigation and managing the legal fees, which grew to vastly exceed the original estimates. In addition, Mr. King served the role of minimizing the workload of the house counsel, thereby allowing the house counsel to discuss the case and their relationships with outside counsel with a knowledgeable, objective lawyer with no "hidden agenda."
  • Mr. King represented a party in a complex patent-related case involving the right to send faxes over the Internet

A note from Mr. King ...

I have handled these and other intellectual property cases, and am convinced that many lawyers in that field may be unable to maximize the client's position in the litigation, and that the fees billed do not always bear a relationship to results obtained. JamesMany of these lawyers are so highly technical that they have may become unable to effectively communicate their knowledge to lay judges or juries. Because the clients are so highly technical, they may not appreciate the absolute need for intellectual property lawyers to both have a grasp of complex scientific matters and still be able to explain and advocate the case to lay judges and juries. However, there are many intellectual property lawyers who are both skilled advocates and bill honestly. My goal is to help the clients and lawyers reach a result in which very effective work is performed for a reasonable fee.

  • Mr. King represented Prince Fahd Aziz of Saudi Arabia. Mr. King was a partner in an international law firm at the time. The case was interesting because the representation of royalty, particularly with the Middle Eastern culture, involved a number of factors which most American lawyers would not take into account. Mr. King had two meetings with the general counsel for the Saudi Royal Family to work out a litigation plan in light of the other considerations.
  • Mr. King represented Heisman Trophy winner Rashan Salaam. It was fascinating to learn the ins and outs of representation of a top athlete. Mr. King guided Rashan and his family through the process of selecting an agent, drawing up an NFL contract for a first-round pick, and selecting/working with two financial advisors. This representation was significant because Mr. King was forced to learn to work through a system that was entirely new to him, and he was able to do so to achieve a very good result for the client and his family.
